Imagine being an innocent little "cozy mystery" writer--on a deadline with writers block. That is what Laura is and she is gonna be in a major bind if she doesn't figure out the specifics of her book and quick! Her best friend has a hot wealthy cousin with a vacation home in Vail and she suggests that Laura get away for a while--get some booty and clear her mind so she can meet her deadline.

Well, her little get away opens all sorts of doors to her creativity--mentally and sexually...it all starts with her fantasy of being watched while she masturbates. She thinks it is a fantasy, but she is really being watched by the owner of the house. From there all sorts of interesting activities unfold.

The story line was somewhat predictable, but it was well written, so I didn't mind the predictability.

Review: Make Me, Sir

Make Me, Sir by Cherise Sinclair

Cherise Sinclair has a wonderful way of combining just the right amount of bondage and domination with romantic elements that appeal to the more "vanilla" reader. I think this is a great series for a reader who is curious about BDSM because it is very light on the edgier side of the scene--humiliation for instance.

This fifth book in the series was quite a bit longer than the others. IMO, [b:Make Me, Sir|9739047|Make Me, Sir (Masters of the Shadowlands, #5)|Cherise Sinclair|http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1294916834s/9739047.jpg|14628135] was heavier on the romance between the oh-so-delicious Master Marcus and his stubborn trainee, Gabrielle. I loved that we got a glimpse of the progress of the relationships of the previous Shadowlands D/s. As an aside...and i don't to spoil it for anyone, but I LOVED Master Z's version of getting down on his knee to propose--classic!

I am not sure if this series is getting ready to wrap up, but I got that feeling as Sinclair gave us a lot of closure on past couples. If it is, that makes me sad :-(

Review: Sinful: Epilogue

Sinful: Epilogue by Charlotte Featherstone

Thank Goodness! The epilogue offered the closure I need to make Sinful a 4 star read for me. Featherstone's words are beautiful and truly make even the crudest act seem like art. I was very pleased with the how Jane's life played out. Originally, I was upset that Jane settled on being Matthew's mistress, because, really what security did that give her for her future? Though Matthew offered her promises of living as a true husband and wife--legal or not--with love and passion, who is to say when that bastard Earl of Wallingford would rear his ugly head and leave her high and dry? I just felt that Jane deserved to be more than Matthew's mistress. I love the ultimate ending! Really a fantastic wrap to a great book.

Review: Sinful

To say that Matthew, Earl of Wallingford is a rakish, skirt-chasing scoundrel is the understatement of the century.

After chasing the wrong skirt -- seeking a celebratory shag, a most unfortunate incident lands him in the hospital for a prolonged period. During his stay, he falls for Jane, the...well, plain Jane nurse from the wrong side of town who care for and nurses him back to health. Once his health returns, the royal ass returns as well. Honestly, I really despised the handsome but snobby Earl--to say his disposition was prickly would be putting it mildly--at every opportunity, it seemed his mouth spewed venom.

It wasn't until the 2nd half of the book that I embraced the Jekyll and Hyde persona that was Matthew and Earl of Wallingford. Of-course, there is a reason for the way he is...several actually. There was some reference to one early on in the book...I think knowing something terrible happened to him is what saved me from going crazy!

At the end of the book, I felt that Jane settled for less than she deserved. I would encourage everyone who reads this book to read the free epilogue on Featherstone's website. Upon reading the epilogue, I felt the closure I needed and much better about the path Jane chose for her life.

Review: Shadowfever

As with all the books in this series, I could have used a little more in the romance department...as to be expected in an UF book!

As for a review, well, it was really a fantastic series. I'm gonna have to give it 4 stars because the beginning dragged a little for me, but overall, it was great and the wrap up at the end tied the entire series together nicely. I am going to deviated from my typical review and I'm just going to kind of give my thoughts on the wrap up...

I loved that we saw a bit more emotional attachment on Barrons' part In this final installment of the Fever series...I really need that in order to feel fulfilled. And WOW! Has Mac really changed over the course of the series...I guess saving the world from the clutches of evil can really put things in to perspective for ya huh? I was a bit disappointed that V'laine turned out to be evil because Although I knew he was deceptive and a horny little sex fae, I thought there was some good within him and I liked him :-(. I also really, really hated that V'laine was one of the ones who raped Mac...uh! I hated that! Okay, what was the deal with Moning throwing in the highlanders for a guest appearance? I know she wanted to get in a shout out for her highlanders series, but I felt that it was awkward and I really didn't feel that it fit well with this series...

I may come back later and make this review a little more like a review rather than a stream of thoughts, but I'm not going to make any promises :-). These are my initial thoughts as I just finished it today, I'm gonna mull it over a bit.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Definitely wish I had waited until the conclusion was out to read CAPTIVE IN THE DARK. Dark, dark, dark...loved it, but the last 1/4 of the book kind of didn't fit with the first 3/4 and found that the new path kind of took me out of the story a bit. I enjoyed the book overall though. Reminiscent of Comfort Food, but still has its own unique twist. CAPTIVE IN THE DARK should satisfy those who are fans of the captor/captive theme as well as the more extreme emotional side of the Dominant/submissive roles.

I see that a popular shelf for this book is contemporary romance...do not read this with that genre in mind because you will be in for a shock!

The premise of this short story is solid, but as SEXUAL HEELING developed, there was just too much going on to feel satisfied when it ended.

Monica, a recent college graduate, is unhappy in her position as the manager at a thrift shoe store. That is until the very sexy Jorge walks into her life, whisking her away from mediocrity and worshiping her tantalizing tootsies. Yes, you guessed it, Jorge has a foot fetish and that is perfect for Monica because she has a shoe fetish - a match made in heaven, right?

The problem I had with SEXUAL HEELING was not the writing or the topic, it was just too rushed - it just didn't feel real to me, everything happened way too quickly for my liking. I would have given this book much higher marks if Jorge and Monica had just had a lunchtime fling and never saw each other again - why did they have to fall in love? No, I just wasn't feeling it.

SEXUAL HEELING packs a lot of sexy in just a few pages, but ultimately stumbles in delivering the goods.

FINDING HOME is a thought-provoking novel that is sure to leave you pondering the moral and ethical implications presented long after you have read the final words.

Imagine yourself in the life of a journalist trying to make a name for yourself...how would you go about that? Megan is a twenty-something journalist in L.A. where everyone dreams of seeing their name in lights - with no one throwing any stories her way, she decides to go out and find a story of her own. In her off time, she infiltrates the streets of L.A. determined to uncover the stories behind the dangerous lives of the "street kids". The "street kids" exist in a world of drugs and prostitution and are content to live a life of homelessness in order to avoid a life in the foster care system. Early on in her investigation, Megan is befriended by the unlikely guardian of sorts named Mouth - with his stamp of approval; the kids of the streets begin to open up to her about their life on the streets. The more time Megan spends around Mouth, the underage, homeless prostitute, the more she is attracted to his wicked charm and bad boy ways. She knows this attraction is wrong and fights the magnetic pull with everything she has within her until a series of events lands Mouth in her home and eventually in her bed.

I truly loved this book, but it definitely confused me. At times, I was yelling at Megan to "JUST DO IT ALREADY!" Other times, I wanted to slap her for being stupid for putting herself in this awful and compromising situation. Even now that the story is over, I find myself trying to justify Megan and Mouth's relationship by rationalizing that he is 17 and right on the cusp of 18, but the fact of the matter is...he's underage. Period. It's against the law. On the other hand, their journey was fantastic and their story was beautiful, so it leaves me feeling kind of torn.

FINDING HOME evoked a lot of powerful emotions that left my brain at war with my heart. I was ultimately pleased with the way the story ended - it appealed to the romantic side of my brain as well as the intelligent side of my brain that tells me to avoid jail time at all costs :-)

My first thought was: "What a bunch of cavemen" - but then I remind myself they didn't ask for a princess, they asked for a slave. Ultimately, Michael the Dom and Jason the Switch were sexy and charismatic and extremely likable characters. If you are looking for some hot male on male action here, you are out of luck. Michael and Jason stand firm on their "watch only" policy, there will be no handling of another man's "junk".

What story would be complete without some conflict and a misunderstanding? After the trio has a devastating misunderstanding that forces Grace into hiding, author Sarah Kingston definitely spices up the story when she turns the table on the dominant men. As punishment, Michael and Jason are forced to submit to Grace. I am not so sure that this would actually happen in a real D/s relationship, but it makes for some very entertaining reading!

GRACE'S FINAL SUBMISSION is a great BDSM ménage with a unique flair that is sure to keep you glued to the page until the very end.

In addition to the memory of the little girl they once knew, they have promised her two currently-deployed brothers to look out for her best interests and that does not include bedding their baby sister. They are determined to fulfill their promise to her brothers, their friends. When Chelsea pulls out all the stops – including getting nasty with some delicious food and a little massage therapy – there is just no way Preston and Luke can resist.

CHELSEA'S PLEASURE was cute, but a little monotonous. This read might benefit from a little more plot development. I thought Chelsea's attack and kidnap were really kind of glossed over and might have been more impactful if they were a little more detailed. I felt the same way with the sudden return of Chelsea's brothers – I know medical leave is sudden, but it seemed like an afterthought. It felt like it was dropped in to add more depth to the story, but only succeeded in making it feel choppy and incomplete.
