Review: On Dublin Street

On Dublin Street
On Dublin Street by Samantha Young

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

ON DUBLIN STREET is hot! This is one of those books that I put off even though everyone was raving about it and I wanted to kick myself for not reading it sooner!

Jocelyn is a strong-willed heroine who has been running from her feelings of past hurt for years. When she begins a new life in Scotland, she never expects the persistent man named Braden Carmichael to wiggle is way into her heart. Jocelyn’s resistance to his charms was at times very frustrating, but totally worth the wait!

Braden is known as quite the playboy and completes every outfit with a leggy supermodel type. He has no idea what the feisty heroine, Jocelyn has in store for his roaming heart. Braden is made up of all the characteristics I love in a hero. He is handsome and full of charisma. He is passionate and domineering, protective and loving. Most of all, he is determined to conquer to heart of the one he has grown to love, no matter what.

If this book has been on your shelf, don’t put it off any longer. This is a story about love and loss and finding space in a broken heart to allow yourself to love again. ON DUBLIN STREET is chocked full of passionate emotion that will leave you laughing and crying and hoping the next story you read is half as engaging. This is definitely a must-read erotic romance.

Review: Exquisite

Exquisite
Exquisite by Ella Frank

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

EXQUISITE was super sexy fun! I totally loved the characters and I am really looking forward to reading the next book in this new series.

New author, Ella Frank, does an excellent job at combining cute and funny with hot and sexy…bravo! I love that the story really developed, drawing me in before the main characters, Lena and Mason get down to business – great sexual tension. I can honestly say that Ella Frank crafted, quite possibly the HOTTEST shower scene I have ever read…yes, EVER and they didn’t even have sex! There was a lot more where that came from, but that is certainly not what the entire book is about. EXQUISITE is a wonderfully heart-warming story that weaves in a lot of sexy fun.

If you are looking to read a sweet and sexy romance with a strong heroine, then check out this new book, the first in the EXQUISITE series by Ella Frank. I’m confident you will enjoy it!

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

What do you get when you combine 3 sexy secret agents in a private birthday party? You get a whole lotta trouble… make that hot and naughty trouble!

When Secret Agent Jake Anderson is presented with the perfect gift all wrapped up in a beautiful and sexy package, how could he resist? Jake has been secretly pining over his best friends wife, Kate, since he can remember, he just can’t walk away when he finds out his birthday present is a chance to finally have a little taste of what he has always wanted…Kate. The catch? He can’t keep her and Chase, Kate’s husband gets to participate – beggars can’t be choosy, so Jake takes the plunge. Can’t say that I blame him, this is definitely the hottest 35th birthday party I have ever heard about!

BIRTHDAY GAMES is a sexy quickie that will whet your appetite for more secret agent action and what a great way to get to know a little about the characters in the new SPY GAMES series by Mia Downing! Though this is part of a series, BIRTHDAY GAMES can definitely be read as a stand alone if you are looking for some quick action!

Review: Truth

Truth
Truth by Aleatha Romig

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

How EXACTLY does one go about writing a review about such a mysterious and complicated story line without giving anything away? I’m not sure, because I am still trying to figure that out…

After pondering TRUTH and everything that has transpired in the Rawlings’ world, I’m not certain I am in any better frame of mind to review this book any more than I was a few days ago, but I am going to try. I do think it is important to note to the readers that this is a trilogy that you have to read in order, so if you are thinking about picking this book up, make sure you have read CONSEQUENCES first!

To say that Claire and Tony have a complicated relationship is quite possibly the understatement of the century. Since, by now, you all have read the first book in the trilogy, CONSEQUENCES, you are aware that Claire and Tony’s relationship did not begin as most “normal” love affairs do. In an effort to right the wrongs of the past by exacting revenge on those near and dear to the offenders, Tony kidnaps and brutalizes Claire for a period of 2 years. To the general public, Claire appears to have it all as Tony’s wife. After all, Tony is a debonair businessman any woman would be lucky to have as a companion and most certainly a prime catch as a husband, but we all know that looks can be very deceiving.

In TRUTH, author, Aleatha Romig continues to torment readers with the sweet torture of Claire and Tony’s story, a story that is so intricately woven you can scarcely blink an eye or you might miss something crucial.

Following Claire’s incarceration for the attempted murder of her husband, an angel bestows a great gift upon her in the form of a pardon. After serving 14 months in prison for a crime she probably did not commit, she is released from prison and granted a pardon from her crime, meaning that she is forgiven and in the eyes of the law, it never occurred – it is expunged from her record. I am saying she “probably did not commit this crime” because you never know what kind of monkey wrench Romig, is planning to throw into the final book, CONVICTED, being the wicked tale-teller she is, I cannot begin to fathom what she has up her sleeve…anyhoo, I digress…

Embracing her newfound gift of freedom, Claire endeavors to rebuild her life and uncover answers to the questions that have been weighing on the minds of all the players in this very risky game of life and revenge. Is the truth worth risking her life? CONSEQUENCES demonstrated that not all is not as it seems in the world surrounding Anthony Rawlings. TRUTH further solidifies that perception is not always reality. Can Claire distinguish friend from foe in time to save herself and the ones she loves? Only time will tell.

What an exhilarating ride! The players in this game of TRUTH were intense and charismatic, although new people were introduced, our old favorites we love to hate got plenty of face-time, namely Tony. If you like a twisty plot with loads of mysteries around every corner, then TRUTH is a must-read! It’s a thrilling and thought-provoking psychological thriller at it’s best! The wait for the final installment is going to be agonizing…2014 cannot come soon enough…

Review: Yvonne: A Courtesan's Compulsion

Yvonne: A Courtesan's Compulsion
Yvonne: A Courtesan's Compulsion by Lindsey Brooks

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Hold on to your pantaloons because this is a bumpy ride!

When, not if, but when you pick up YVONNE: A COURTESAN'S COMPULSION, you have got to prepare yourself for a dark and mysterious exploration into the unknown. This ain’t your mama’s “sugar kink” BDSM book, this is a “big-girl/boy” story.

Yvonne is a bright and beautiful, well-bred courtesan, not a whore, a courtesan and there is a big difference. She is exactly the kind of woman you might imagine decorating the arm of an aristocratic man, but behind closed doors, the mask comes off and she is a well-trained submissive willing to do just about anything to please her Master.

In a phone call, Yvonne is told to dress like a hooker, board a train and await further instruction, so, she does exactly that. From there, she finds herself in a series of unfortunate situations and begins to question that the owner of that commanding voice on the phone was actually her Master. As her journey progresses, she is forced to perform and witness a number of acts that have never entered her mind – she is confused by her body’s reaction. The combination of arousal and disgust is foreign to her and she doesn’t quite know what to make of it.

YVONNE: A COURTESAN'S COMPULSION is sometimes painful to read. If you have an aversion to acts such as humiliation, use of enemas, non-con, forced seduction, and public urination, then you should steer clear. Otherwise, buckle up because this book is going to take you on an emotional rollercoaster ride! The wide variety of kinks commonly associated with BDSM will leave you gasping in horror, crying in shame and screaming for someone to give you an ounce of the pleasure Yvonne seemed to have experienced along the way.

Review: The Color of Grace

The Color of Grace
The Color of Grace by Linda Kage

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Why do parents live to ruin your life? As a teenager, we have all been convinced as some point that this is their sole purpose for living.

Good girl Grace Indigo, a nerdy, sixteen-year-old, is suddenly uprooted from her life in the middle of her high school career when her mother remarries after being a single parent for thirteen years. Grace is not happy about leaving her friends to attend a rival school, but she is excited about the prospect of having a real live father for the first time in her life. Losing her father as a small child and never having a father figure, she is unclear about the role this new man will play. Aside from the typical trials and tribulations of being a teenager, she is also dealing with the normal anxiety of being the "new girl" at school. Compounding the situation, the relationship between Grace and her mother seems to be disintegrating on a daily basis as they each try to find their place in their new home and cope with the changing family dynamics.

As a former member of the "nerd herd," Grace is not delusional; she knows she will eventually team up with other fellow nerds. So, imagine her surprise when she finds herself smack-dab in the middle of the cool kids, but she's not complaining because some of these kids are a lot deeper than they appear and some are just as superficial as you might expect. In an effort to play it cool, she disses "Mr. Popular" and accidentally starts dating his best friend which lands her in a game of tug-of-war with the boys...SO NOT COOL!

THE COLOR OF GRACE deals with a lot of tough issues teens are faced with—rumors, peer pressure, drinking and sex, just to name a few. Without giving anything away, there is another tough issue that is thrown into the mix of the new family dynamics that makes for a lot of drama in this great read. Pick up THE COLOR OF GRACE if you are looking for a heartfelt story with a strong heroine that you would like your teenaged daughter to idolize - a good story for you or your teenager.

Review: Christmas Do-Over

Christmas Do-Over
Christmas Do-Over by Shashauna P. Thomas

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Santa Clause is coming to town in CHRISTMAS DO-OVER, giving a whole new meaning to the phrase, "You Better Watch Out"!

In this short holiday read, Julian McGee is a man who is down and out and has lead a life of criminal mischief...that is until the beautiful babe named Lilly waltzes into his life. Though Julian has been in and out of trouble his entire life, he is inherently a good person. When Lily shows him his destiny, Julian clearly sees his purpose in life and is eager to move on to that chapter.

I enjoyed Shashauna P. Thomas' play on some Christmas traditions and legends...like when "bad" children get coal in their stocking because they don't deserve a real present. The author says it's symbolic of troubled children being "diamonds in the rough" -- I thought this was such fantastic symbolism that I had to look it up to see if it was true!

On the flip side, I believe this story would have been a fantastic story if it had been a wee bit longer -- building up to the big reveal about Julian's destiny. It was, however, a cute and sexy holiday treat.

Review: Nights at The Pulsing Ruby

Nights at The Pulsing Ruby
Nights at The Pulsing Ruby by Mia Abbey

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Based on the author's other titles, I expected some play on THE WIZARD OF OZ, but nope! NIGHTS AT THE PULSING RUBY was a sweet story about a BBW who takes a job as a stripper at a club who caters to men who like larger women. Juggling her daytime life with her new nighttime life is exhausting and she has to decide which one is more important because she obviously can't have both.

NIGHTS AT THE PULSING RUBY is a quickie, but surprisingly complete. I enjoyed it and I hope you will too!

Review: The Nymph's Muse

The Nymph's Muse
The Nymph's Muse by Xavier Edwards

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

When fate calls, sometimes you just have to follow your instincts and take the plunge into the unknown.

While locking eyes with a naked beauty perched her apartment window, Chase blindly steps into the path of on coming traffic and nearly gets killed in the process. When the nymph-like woman invites him into her life, the near death experience is almost worth the reward.

THE NYMPH’S MUSE is a hot but short erotic story. It moved a little quick for my liking, but I enjoyed it nonetheless.

Review: Undercover Submissive

Undercover Submissive
Undercover Submissive by Michelle Hughes

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

What do you get when you mix twins, a sexy professional Dom and a mystery? That’s the perfect recipe for a great story if you ask me!

Cayce, the serious one, is a well-educated librarian who has had her fair share of heartache in her life, but she doesn’t let that keep her down. When her twin, Cait, the wild one, goes missing Cayce is willing to do absolutely anything to find her. While rifling through her sister’s belongings in an effort to uncover answers to her disappearance, she discovers a world that is so far from anything she has ever known that she can scarcely wrap her mind around it. Cayce’s quest into the unknown changes the course of her life and happiness, as she has known it is soon a distant memory.

UNDERCOVER SUBMISSIVE is a well-developed quickie at around 100 pages. I thoroughly enjoyed Cayce’s journey and although the book was totally complete, I would love to read more about Cayce and her ne life. If you like your steam laced with little mystery and a lot of action (and I am not talking kung-foo), then UNDERCOVER SUBMISSIVE is not one you will want to miss!

Review: Toni's Dilemma

Toni's Dilemma
Toni's Dilemma by Trillium

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

TONI'S DILEMMA didn't sound like much of a dilemma to me at all. This hot little home for the holidays story was entertaining and took me a little by surprise.

Peter, Toni's Master has invited her former lover to Christmas dinner and though quite stressful, the possibilities of how the night would play out were endless. I was certain that I knew how this story would end, but I was quite surprised by the path the author took. Although TONI'S DILEMMA has a holiday theme, it is sure to please year around!

If you are looking for a short story that catches you off guard and teases your senses, then this is a great story for you.

Review: My Body-His

My Body-His
My Body-His by Blakely Bennett

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The dark-side of reality is outrageous and intriguing. MY BODY-HIS is the delicious beginning of a sensational new trilogy by newcomer Blakely Bennett, where passion and obsession, reward and punishment are all on the menu.

I know I have a good book when it evokes powerful emotions as I am reading. I sometimes wonder what is wrong with me when I enjoy books like MY BODY-HIS – the life portrayed in the story is so far from anything I have ever experienced and I am quite certain I don’t care to experience, but the fact of the matter is… I LIKE IT! I don’t want to live it, but I like reading about it.

Jane is an independent woman. She has a great job, lots of friends and a crazy mother…all the more reason to be self-sufficient. Though her life is great on the outside, she is bored with everything, but is not exactly sure what she is looking for. One fateful night at a party with a friend, she encounters a mysterious and handsome stranger who calls to her like no other has before and she cannot resist the allure. His commanding tone and obvious dominance has her knees buckling and compels her to do his bidding from the first moment they meet.

Luke is not just dominant, but he is controlling, almost to the point of total power exchange. He claims to be a wealthy man, but he does not flaunt his wealth, which is somewhat refreshing, but makes me skeptical. Honestly, Luke is one of those heroes you love to hate and I can’t really decide at the moment if I want him or want to kill him. His behavior and dominance enrages me for Jane’s sake – his expectations and requests of her are outrageously over the top…you will just have to read it for yourself because I really don’t want to spoil it for anyone, but trust me when I say his demands are outside the realm of “normal.” Luke has an extreme aversion to behaving in a manner he expects from others and this was oh-so frustrating as a reader because I really wanted to slap that commanding tone right out of his mouth. Hold on, I am making him sound like a complete jerk – he is not a total jerk, he is very generous with doling out orgasms and THAT is a positive in my book ☺

The extreme emotion I experienced while reading MY BODY-HIS was at times overwhelming, but in a good way. Though MY BODY-HIS can easily be read as a stand-alone, it is the first book of three and I am dying to know how the rest of the story will play out. If you like the dark-side of erotica and are looking for something new to sink your teeth into, then this will be right up your alley. I was captivated from the very beginning and I am confident you will be too!
