Immortal Protector by Elizabeth Finn
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Elizabeth Finn puts her own personal spin on the paranormal with her erotic new vampire series, The Immortals. Ingredients include a hot, domineering man; a shy, inexperienced girl; a bad guy; and her signature ingredient: hot, erotic bedroom scenes that leave you drooling.
Truman has been protecting Ember her entire life. In order to keep her safe, he has to wipe her brain of her memories after each encounter – but the feeling of safety, desire, and trust when she's around him remain even if her memories do not. After more than a decade of keeping his distance, Truman decides he'd rather meet her as a human and get to spend quality time together than return her memories only to have to wipe them again a day later. They spend a summer getting to know each other the traditional way and fall passionately in love with each other.
After a summer of watching Truman become even more consumed by his human than ever before, a vampire ruler decides enough is enough. He wants Truman to take his rightful place in the family and is willing to kill Ember to guarantee it gets done. When Ember permanently loses every memory she ever had of Truman, he has to figure out how to convince a woman who is terrified and bitter that she once loved him and could love him again, all while trying to keep the vampire community satisfied in the process.
Elizabeth Finn is an author I faithfully follow – if she wrote it, I want to read it! And while vampires are usually a surefire way to get me invested in a story, I felt like this one didn't pack quite the addictive punch that I've come to associate with anything Elizabeth Finn has written. It was almost like it had the formula I expected, but not the depth and feeling. That's not to say it wasn't good, it most definitely was; it just wasn't the same level of excellence as some of her other works (The Devil's Pawn, Restoring Jordan).
I would still recommend this to anyone who enjoys passionate love, hot sex, vampires, or all of the above – and from hints given at the end as to what is in store for book #2, it looks like the entire series will be delectable.

Review: Never Too Far
Never Too Far by Abbi Glines
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
NEVER TOO FAR, the follow up novel to FALLEN TOO FAR was chocked full of drama and sweet sexy goodness, but if I am being honest here, these books could have totally been combined into one novel – but I DO get the author’s drive is to make more money… This is certainly one way to do it, but it loses a star because of it!
I read a lot. I read so much that it would be impossible to keep up with important detail like the fact that Rush is a hot, crazy-assed rich, recovering bad boy, okay, well, I might not forget those details, but you know what I mean. So, in order to remember important details that would inevitably fade from memory, I like to categorize them. There are a few shelves that are extremely tough for books to get on in my shelving system. They have to really earn the “title” and whoa baby, let me tell you… Rush works overtime to earn the title of “best dirty talk.” Now, I want you to go and peek at my shelves – notice how many books I have read? At least half (probably more) of those are erotic in nature, so I have read a lot of dirty talk but notice that my best dirty talker shelf only has seven books – see where I am going with this? But it’s not just about talking dirty, anyone can do that, the words have to speak to me. Ding! Ding! Ding! NEVER TOO FAR wins the honor of sporting my “best dirty talker” badge, not only does our bad-boy Rush wield a wicked tongue in the bedroom, our girl Blaire starts to master the dirty talk by the end of the book and I hold girl dirty talk to a higher standard – I know, not fair, but it’s true.
NEVER TOO FAR has a really great cast of characters – most of which we met in book 1. I love Bethy and her wild ways. She definitely adds some fun and excitement to Blaire’s life. Cain is a total doll and I hope he gets a book one day. Nan is a total bitch and I hate her, but you have to hate at least one character, right? I have my own suspicions about who Nan is banging behind the scenes, but I will keep that to myself for now. Grant is a sweetie and he deserves his happily ever after too! Then, there is Woods. Oh! I love him and I am super pumped about his book due out at the end of April – I am going to flip out if author Abbie Glines drags it out into 2 books… so annoying.
If you are a fan of the “new adult” genre, then what the hell are you waiting for? Get your arse in gear and get this book – but don’t say I didn’t warn you that you won’t be able to get anything done until you have finished both books! Enjoy!

Review: Lethal Obsession
Lethal Obsession by Shandra Miller
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Dark desires, deadly domination and death served up in the most intriguing manner in this new darkly erotic novel, LETHAL OBSESSION by Shandra Miller.
Detective Angela Martin has found herself in quite a disastrous predicament. As the only female detective on the small town of Moose Creek, N.Y.’s police department she has to watch her step. It’s a man’s world. Angela is a talented and valued asset to the male-dominated department, but as her personal life begins to spiral out of control, her judgment becomes clouded and her actions are scrutinized.
Personally, Angela struggles; her marriage is a sham and her secret desires are not what most people would consider as “normal.” Desperate to achieve the sexual gratification she has only dreamt about, she resorts to fulfillment with strangers – one stranger in particular is more than willing to accommodate her unusual requests. In a bizarre twist of cruel fate, her dark and kinky personal life is exposed and all that she has worked so hard to accomplish hangs by a thin and fragile thread.
LETHAL OBSESSION is a must read for lovers of dark erotic suspense. As the story leaves the reader with a minor cliffhanger, I am eagerly awaiting the follow-up novel to this mysterious tale.

Review: Fallen Too Far
Fallen Too Far by Abbi Glines
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Really, I think it would sufficient enough of a review to say: super fantastic! And I am immediately on to the next book – if that is any indication of how much I liked it.
In a nutshell, mysterious and of course handsome forbidden love interest meets the innocent beauty who turns out to be his step-sister… Oh the complications that presents! Then throw in the evil “other” sister, horn-dog hotties who have more money than God, deadbeat dad, secrets, lies and betrayal and you have yourself a damn good read!
I am on to the next book, so snatch this one up and go ahead and get book 2 while you are at it because you will definitely want to dive right into the next one!

Review: Sweet Seduction Sacrifice
Sweet Seduction Sacrifice by Nicola Claire
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
What happens when you have a greedy ex-boyfriend who is a little crazy and he is trying to wreak havoc on your life by messing with the dream business you have worked so hard to make a reality? You go to the most prominent law firm in town, of course and do everything you can to defend what is rightfully yours!
This is exactly the predicament Genevieve Cain finds herself in the middle of in this first installment of the SWEET SEDUCTION Series, SWEET SEDUCTION SACRIFICE.
I was immediately engrossed in the story of this totally loveable heroine’s life.
Author Nicola Claire makes quick work of introducing the main players while maintaining an air of mystery and building the delicious sexual tension I crave in romance novels.
Gen is one of those characters you root for – even when she is making stupid decisions. She is one smart cookie when it comes to everything BUT men! She is spunky and has the most delightful way with words, especially when she gets nervous – it is totally endearing!
Brett is a total piece of shit. Unfortunately for Gen, he is her ex-boyfriend and just like a piece of shit, the stink lingers long after Gen wises up and kicks him out for good.
Then, there is the good stuff! “Dominic god-like Anscombe” is all bad assed, dominant deliciousness wrapped in a thousand-dollar suit – just the way I like ‘em! Don’t forget his entourage of hotties – I have high hopes that author Nicola Claire has a few more stories up her sleeves that include the remaining bachelors getting their happily ever after! With they way the story was left, I smell the possibility of a ménage…
This is a first for me by this author and you can bet it won’t be my last! This is a great read for anyone who loves contemporary romance novels combined with a little action and suspense.

Review: Fallen Too Far
Fallen Too Far by Abbi Glines
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
You know, I had things to do today. Like real things. But it doesn't matter, the second I started this book I knew nothing would get done, the house would be a wreck, there was just no putting down this book! It will tear you down, build you up, and break you into a thousand pieces. I've laughed, I've cried, and the romance?? It's steaming, smoking, breathtaking.
Blaire has taken every terrible thing life can throw at her but she's not the kind to sit down and cry about it. She picks herself up and does whatever it takes to get by. Even if that means going to stay with a dad who left her family at the worst possible time and hasn't been around since. And what does he do? He jets off to Paris and leaves her to explain her situation to a stepbrother she didn't even know existed and who certainly doesn't seem to want to welcome her into his home. Living under a stairwell, she sets about getting a job and earning the means to take care of herself since no one else is going to do it for her. But her stepbrother Rush just won't stay away - no matter how much he seems to want to.
Thus begins an angsty romance that will leave you screaming at anyone who dares to interrupt your love affair with FALLEN TOO FAR! And the secrets Rush hides? Truly unpredictable and total game changers! I'm in book paradise and can't bang out this review fast enough to start book #2! Five stars really doesn't represent this book - its 6, 7, 8 stars amazing!

Review: Wild Child
Wild Child by Shelley Munro
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
WILD CHILD is like the smut version of a delicious little afternoon treat right before dinner... You question if you should indulge, but once you begin, you just can't help yourself!
When Matt's step-sister, Zoe shows up unannounced and is shockingly discovered sleeping naked in his bed, he is determined to fight the lust that has been building between them since she has been legal. Although his intentions are admirable, he is but a mere man and his defenses are weak against Zoe's powers of persuasion, but let's be honest here... He wasn't putting up much of a fight.
I love pseudo-incest stories! WILD CHILD is dirty-hot, smut at its best! Go into this quickie knowing that you're going to get lots of steam with just enough of a plot to keep you interested and you'll be happily home bound for a few hours!

Review: One Step Too Far
One Step Too Far by Tina Seskis
My rating: 3 of 5 stars
Sit up straight and pay attention! There’s a lot going on in ONE STEP TOO FAR and if you zone out for even a second, you could miss something crucial.
ONE STEP TOO FAR is a story of jealousy, greed, heartbreak and madness with a little bit of happiness thrown in for good measure. The manner in which the story is told can be confusing if you are not firing on all cylinders. Told from multiple points of view, the reader gains insight to all the players in this crazy game called Emily Coleman’s life and although it is beneficial, it was also a bit confusing at times.
Emily Coleman had a seemingly perfect life… until you meet her philandering father, self-absorbed twin sister and slightly off-balance mother. There’s more, but that would spoil the story! She’s lived with that nut-house-of-a-family forever and now she has a family of her own that really is fantastic and a great job, so, what makes her wake up one day and walk out on her life? That’s the focus of the whole story, so you will just have to read it to find out.
I really enjoyed the mystery behind the tale that was told, but I felt that there were a few holes in the plot that made me go… hmmm… One of the big questions I had was: Did her husband really look for her? I mean look for her like he really wanted to find her? I’m not so sure of that, but I am getting ahead of myself… Emily Coleman’s adventure into her new life as “Cat” was disconcerting, but interesting. I was disappointed in Emily/Cat’s lack of growth and personal development while living on the wild side, but then again maybe it was time for Emily to be a little selfish and not think too much about consequences and just live for the moment… I was also very disappointed by Emily’s attitude about her twin’s final fate – I don’t believe for a second that is how Emily’s character would have behaved, it lacked believability in my opinion. Despite the bumps, I was engrossed in the story.
Overall, ONE STEP TOO FAR was an enjoyable read and I found myself wondering what on earth could possibly happen next and to my delight, something usually happened that I wasn’t expecting!
New author, Tina Seskis just might be what you are in the mood for if you are looking for a good mysterious drama to keep you entertained. Check it out – I know I will definitely be checking out her other title, A SERPENTINE AFFAIR due out in the fall of 2013.

Review: The Prince
The Prince by Kiera Cass
My rating: 3 of 5 stars
Some things are all about timing... I probably shouldn't have read this right after reading the novella Destroy Me. Because I learned from that novella that no matter how short a novella is, it can matter - it can change things... THE PRINCE was fine - but it didn't really change much, other than maybe I like America a little less than I did before... I felt bad for Prince Maxon in this novella, like maybe America really was wasting his time, not to mention a spot that could be filled with his future wife. She was rude and not so appealing, despite what he said to the contrary. Other than that, it didn't really add anything material to the story.
I still have every intention of reading The Elite because I loved The Selection and am not going to let a short novella deter me. I just wasn't wowed the way I hoped to be. Even if its short - if you're saying its part of the story - it should add something, even if just the tiniest bit of insight into the characters. This just really didn't.

Review: Unravel Me
Unravel Me by Tahereh Mafi
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Perfection. That's what this series is - absolute perfection. The writing is smart and beautiful and poetic. And the guys? I've never wanted a character to split in half so bad as I do right now! There need to be two Juliettes - one who ends up with Adam and one who is with Warner. Because I can't imagine a world where Adam doesn't win the girl - every time he talks I end up in tears. But I am so terrified of what will happen to Warner if he doesn't get the girl. I could see Warner going so totally evil that it would be scary - and after seeing just a sliver of the deeply hidden Warner - I really want him to know that someone could love him too. OH Tahereh Mafi, what are you doing to me???
In UNRAVEL ME, Juliette is now safely hidden at Omega Point - a place where people like her with special abilities thrive - and where dreams of a brighter future for the world are alive and in process. Kenji helps Juliette embrace her abilities instead of hating them - as well as shows her that people will give her a chance if she only learns to open up. I don't remember thinking much of Kenji in book #1 but he is really fun in UNRAVEL ME.
At the same time, Adam learns something about his own ability that puts his life in jeopardy if he gets too close to Juliette. I have decided that Adam really is the PERFECT man - he is so passionately in love with Juliette - willing to do whatever it takes to be with her - and he speaks to her in such a way that you can't help but start highlighting, underlining, memorizing every word so later you can savour his words and his promises while you wait helplessly for book #3.
Then there's Warner. Oh Warner. I wanted to hate him in Shatter Me, I got to know him in Destroy Me, and now??? I can't help but want good things for him! As much as I NEED Adam and Juliette to end up together, I really don't want Warner to get hurt either! I have no idea what Tahereh Mafi is going to do - but whatever it is, it's going to take entirely too long for me to find out! I am desperate for book #3 (and the novella in between) and will be on pins and needles wondering what will happen. This series should probably be called Devour Me because that's what I feel like while reading it - I am devouring it, it is consuming me, its an all-around amazing series.

Review: Lost
Lost by Varian Krylov
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
What a fantastic set up to a terrifically taboo story. LOST may push the limits of some readers too far as the story is one of an incestuous romance between a brother and sister as well as a father and daughter.
LOST begins with a family of three scientists who are stranded on a deserted island when their boat is destroyed by a typhoon while on a scientific excursion. Fast forward three years and you have the only female, Cat (18), her brother, Derek who is 28 and their father, Victor. Cat is very curious about the opposite sex and is certain that she will die a virgin unless she can convince her brother to teach her all the things she has missed out on discovering with other boys. After much persistence, she slowly breaks down the social boundaries that confines Derek by coaxing him to sample what she so willingly offers.
The incestuous relationship Cat and Derek engaged in made my mind flash to THE BLUE LAGOON, then, the social breakdown of the relationship between the father and son forced my mind to LORD OF THE FLIES. It was amazing how quickly things changed between the trio once the sex began… the men reverted to animalistic behavior and Cat became the primary object of focus and comfort.
Though I really enjoyed the premise of the story, I wanted more – hence the 4/5 stars rating. I would have liked to have seen more about the relationship between the father and son and how they interacted as time passed. I would have liked to have seen more about how the group and individual relationships developed. In my opinion, the relationship between Cat and her father was not nearly as believable as the relationship she initiated with her brother – it really needed more development leading up to the initial sexual act.
If you like taboo reads and you enjoy an interesting plot with a lot of steam, then check out LOST – it is sure to hit the spot!

Review: Wicked Weekend
Wicked Weekend by Gillian Archer
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
WICKED WEEKEND was full of promise and way too quick! Exactly like a real weekend!
While attending a joint bachelor/bachelorette party for her sister and her soon to be husband, single Lauren can barely stomach the lovey-dovey, PDA they force all who surround them to endure. What makes the situation even tougher to withstand, is the fact that the man her sister is marrying also happens to be the only man Lauren has lusted after her entire life. *Mental Pity-Party Time* All she can think about is escaping the antics of her attention-whore-of-a-sister, so when the opportunity arises, Lauren escapes to the bar in hopes of grabbing a moment of peace to compose herself.
The great escape to the bar turns out to be the beginning of a very naughty and very WICKED WEEKEND when Lauren spots an Adonis at the bar, flagging a black handkerchief – the classic sign (apparently) for people in “the lifestyle” to display when looking for a no strings attached fling with a submissive. Well, H-E-L-L-O! The handsome stranger, Jamie, is just what the doctor ordered and may be the perfect distraction to help her get through the love-fest of a weekend that’s ahead of her.
This novella had a great premise and I really enjoyed it, but it felt a little rushed in some areas. I would have loved to have seen a little more development between the characters, Lauren and Jamie, but it was a fun story even as a quickie.

Review: Scandalous
Scandalous by H.M. Ward
My rating: 2 of 5 stars
SCANDALOUS started out with a bang, but fizzled out as the story continued while failing to progress at a satisfying rate.
I really like the idea behind the story, but I had a really tough time relating to Abby’s character. There was something about the story that I can’t quite put my finger on that rubbed me the wrong way – I don’t think it was the religious aspect, I have read plenty of books where the righteous fall firmly into the evil clutches of the Devil.
Kudos to the author for turning the virginal nun into a horny, sex-goddess – dirty, I like it – you definitely win points for that unique angle ☺ I would like for Abby to have been a stronger character. I felt like she had no backbone – a puppet for the church, a puppet for Jack and just when I think she has regained her wits, she shocks me with her stupidity.
If contemporary romance about forbidden love is your bag, then this might be just what you are looking for!

Review: Tease
Tease by C.D. Reiss
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
If BEG left me begging for more, then TEASE, staying true to the title, was barely successful in whetting my appetite for all I want to know about the handsome and powerful, Jonathon and his oh-so-willing object of affection, Monica.
Jonathon is my favorite kind of hero; sexy, powerful and dominant to the core -remaining so very charming even as he orders his woman to her knees *sigh*.
Monica is really trying hard to stay true to herself and her dreams, but Jonathon’s powers of persuasion are a force to be reckoned with and resisting his charms is going to take more will power than I believe she possesses.
At this point, all I can say is: WHERE THE HELL IS THE 3RD INSTALLMENT C.D.?

Review: Beg
Beg by C.D. Reiss
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
BEG left me begging for more! This first installment of the LOS ANGELES NIGHTS e-Serial is a quickie that pulled me in from the beginning! At 70 pages, BEG can best be labeled as a serial novella in a series of installments for lack of a better word - this type of read has been dubbed an "e-serial".
I originally snagged this little gem for free on Amazon and quickly moved on to the next installment because I really needed to know what would happen next! I am not so sure I like this new trend of serial novellas – I don’t ever totally feel satisfied since there is really never any resolution, kind of like a soap opera… I imagine this is what a “crack-head” must feel like.
Monica is a singer trying to make it big in LA and has no time for dating – right now she is keeping her eye on the prize and that prize is cutting a record deal. It’s the key to her future.
Enter Jonathon, the handsome owner of the hotel in which Monica works. He also has his eye on the prize and that prize is Monica!
Rest assured, this is not a wham-bam-thank-you-ma’am kind of story. They definitely take their sweet time getting down to business and the journey definitely has me intrigued.

Review: Entice
Entice by Ella Frank
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
SMART. SPUNKY. CONFIDENT. SEXY. AVAILABLE. That about sums up Dr. Shelly Monroe! I LOVE this character! Actually, I have become quite smitten with all the characters in the EXQUISITE Series. Author Ella Frank does not skimp when it comes to creating “real” characters that jump of the page in 3-D and that is what I love about this series.
You think you know what’s best for you, right? Yes, well, everyone thinks they know, but when it comes to matters of the heart, the brain oftentimes gets in the way and you end up with something you thought you wanted and miss out on what you actually needed. That is exactly the path that Dr. Shelly Monroe is headed for…
Shelly Monroe is a medical doctor – obviously not a love doctor because she is looking for love in all the wrong places, like boardrooms, courtrooms and bank vaults, but she is quickly running out of choices. The faster she realizes that all those “suits” will never hold her attention for long, the faster she can get on to the good stuff, but she is stubborn! When the feisty doctor first lays eyes on Joshua Daniels, her body says, “go for it”, but her mind says, “run for your life”!
Joshua Daniels also has no clue what he needs… He thinks he needs someone cute and sweet. Dr. “Man-Eater Monroe” is neither of those - she is hot and sexy and probably a firecracker in bed, which is all the more reason for him to avoid her like the plague.
Thank God for lust! When lust finally steps in and clouds their brains with delusional thoughts like: “Oh yeah, you don’t need to be involved to hit the sheets.”, that’s when the story really starts to heat up! Disaster averted! Sort of… Man-Eater Monroe and Joshua Daniels prove to be two of the most stubborn characters I have ever encountered, but their chemistry is undeniable and their games of cat and mouse make for a very… well… enticing story.
The sexual tension between Shelly and Joshua is thick and I loved every minute of it! Their rhetoric is bold and sexy. Their big talk of keeping their relationship strictly in the bedroom makes their fall into romantic bliss even sweeter. Here is a snippet from one of my favorite scenes:
He knew she’d notice the huge hard-on pressing against his jeans, and he also knew the moment when she saw it because her tongue came out, licking at her lips again.
“You do that a lot, you know?”
Her eyes came back to his as she raised questioning brow at him.
“What’s that?”
“Look at my cock and lick your lips.”
She took a step closer, and he had to uncross his legs or she would have bumped into them. Reaching over beside him, she tossed her little purse in the back of his truck, and then moved one more step closer until she was positioned snugly between his thighs with her amazing breasts pressed against his chest. He watched as the lips in question tipped up in a sexy smile.
“That’s because I want to lick it,” she informed him in true man-eater style, bold and to the point.
That’s my girl! Eat him up! That is exactly why I love this character!
Great Story! Great Characters! Must Read!

Review: Temptation
Temptation by Selena Kitt
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
There is no doubt about it; author Selena Kitt is the Queen of Taboo! I started reading Kitt’s stories back in 2010 and when it comes to taboo topics, her work is the gold standard, in my opinion.
For the benefit of new readers, I feel it's necessary to give a brief history of how TEMPTATION was born.
UNDER MR. NOLAN'S BED - THE ORIGINAL, often referred to as “UMNB,” was originally published in 2008. The pages contained a very naughty story of sexual exploration that involved a little girl-on-girl action and *gasp* incest. It was a hot little number and earned a 4/5 star rating from me, but the level of steam and the taboo nature of the book, may have been a little "much" for some readers.
Selena Kitt is obviously a smart businesswoman. In an effort to appeal to the masses with this wildly popular story, Ms. Kitt recreated her masterpiece in 2010 and introduced the “slightly less naughty but no less sexy re-telling” of the taboo events that occurred in The Original UMNB and named it PLAID SKIRT CONFESSIONS. This new and altered version took out the incest angle and made it more of a May/December type of romance. Sweet by Kitt standards, but still sexy!
In 2010, Amazon decided to be the morality police and pull all incest related reading material from their site. Ms. Kitt knew that fighting that battle was futile and rolled with the changes in 2011 by taking a middle of the road approach by creating a story that wasn’t quite as taboo as The Original version and not as “tame” as PLAID SKIRT CONFESSIONS. Conforming to the new “no incest” rules at Amazon, she created UNDER MR. NOLAN'S BED - REVISED and told a story of pseudo-incest where the characters were not of any blood relation, but still had that father/daughter type of relationship, so it was taboo-ish, but not illegal and fit right in with the new Amazon guidelines – CLEVER!
When I want to read something that skirts the taboo, Selena Kitt is my “go-to” author, so, when I found out that she was planning an exciting trilogy based on one of my favorite stories, UMNB, I knew I had to have it!
TEMPTATION is, by Ms. Kitt’s own description, a retelling of The Original with a “a richer experience with deeper secrets to reveal.” Having read the original, trust me when I say this: You will definitely want to read this updated version – although the bones of the story is basically the same, it is, in fact, a “richer experience.” In roughly 250 pages, we learn more about what drives the characters and we get a clearer picture of their lives and how they live. If you are an old Selena Kitt fan, rest assured that TEMPTATION contains all the naughty goodness that you have come to love about her work. This first installment in the UMNB Trilogy catapults the basic story (used in all the books previously mentioned) to the top of my taboo list.
I am not typically one to re-read books, but each version of this story has unique elements that make them seem like different reads - each appealing to a variety of tastes. Kudos to author, Selena Kitt for revising, reinventing and reviving this delicious tale of lust and forbidden love. If you love the taboo, then you will love the first book, TEMPTATION, in this new trilogy, UNDER MR. NOLAN’S BED.

Review: Keep No Secrets
Keep No Secrets by Julie Compton
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
WORST. DECISION. EVER.
KEEP NO SECRETS is an edge-of-your-seat, legal thriller with a little romance and a lot of mystery rolled into one very appealing package that is sure to appeal to a variety of readers.
I think it is safe to assume that everyone has made a decision at some point in life that you would love to be able to go back in time and do differently. As they say; “Hindsight is 20/20.” Decisions that are made everyday have the power to alter the course of the rest of your life. What if that decision involves telling a teensy, weensy, little white lie?
District Attorney, Jack Hilliard had a good life. He has a smart and beautiful wife, 2 wonderful children and a thriving career. Four years ago, when a one-night stand becomes public knowledge, he almost lost it all, but since that night, he has successfully repaired his reputation in the eye of the public. Although his wife has forgiven him, she has not forgotten about his indiscretion – I suppose that is something a spouse can never truly forget. Despite his marital blunder, Jack is inherently a good person and strives to “do the right thing,” but what happens when “the right thing” to do is not so black and white?
That was his life before the fateful night he made an emotional decision in an attempt to protect his son’s under aged girlfriend from the wrath of her own father. That was his life before that same under aged girlfriend accuses him of rape. That was his life before a series of “little white lies” were revealed and cast an ominous and dark shadow of doubt on his innocence. KEEP NO SECRETS kept me guessing from beginning to end and although I knew the truth, it was easy to pin Jack as “guilty” based on the information presented. Just as I thought that I had everything figured out, a new truth was revealed, successfully keeping my attention and leaving me feeling slightly off kilter throughout the entire novel.
KEEP NO SECRETS is an excellent reminder that no lie is a good lie. Ever. Even the most “innocent” lie told with the intention of protecting another has the potential to come back with a vengeance and wreck your life. You can bet your sweet ass that I will rethink telling even the most “innocent” little white lie in the future! If you have a penchant for mysteries and romance, then KEEP NO SECRETS might be the perfect book for you!

Review: Our Dirty Little Secret
Our Dirty Little Secret by Xondra Day
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
"If wishes were horses, beggars would ride." In OUR DIRTY LITTLE SECRET, there's a whole lotta begging going on and the beggars are definitely riding!
Ann Hunter has had the Big 4-0 nipping at her heels for a year and now the big day is upon her, leaving her a bit unsettled. Ann is well loved by her handsome husband, Jeff, but she can't seem to get their hottie neighbor, Mike, out of her thoughts. But that's just what they were—thoughts. She would never act on the mounting lust. As a straight man, Jeff is secure enough with his sexuality to appreciate the well-built, fine form that is Mike, but when Jeff and Mike share an innocent kiss, Jeff's thoughts begin to wander in a variety of naughty directions and to say that it leaves him feeling unsettled is a vast understatement.
When a fun weekend getaway between three good friends turns into something else entirely, will their relationships survive the fallout?
The chemistry between Ann and Jeff as a married couple is fantastic! Author Xondra Day does an excellent job of slowly building the sexual tension between the couple and their sexy neighbor, Mike. By the time the trio gets down to business, the scenario is totally believable, well, okay, I had to suspend reality for a minute for the double vaginal penetration, but it worked! Although the ménage is totally unplanned, it plays out like a well-orchestrated porn as they leave no sexual stone unturned!
OUR DIRTY LITTLE SECRET is a very entertaining read if you enjoy ménage stories where all parties are involved in the experience.

Review: Destroy Me
Destroy Me by Tahereh Mafi
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
I think I was pretty clear in my review of Shatter Me that I did NOT want to like Warner; I didn't want to, I refused, it was not okay! Adam was too good, too perfect for Juliette, there didn't need to be an alternative. And evil villain Warner? Definitely not him! I am not the kind of girl who switches teams - if I'm team Edward - then I hate Jacob - and in this case I want to HATE Warner! It makes perfect sense to hate him!
But Tahereh Mafi didn't listen, she didn't care - she made me like Warner! AARGH!!! He was so broken and vulnerable in DESTROY ME; so completely in love with Juliette! And unlike most novellas that seem to be fluff and immaterial, this mattered - this affected things, it changes everything! Now I will be torn and confused and rooting for everyone - everyone! Don't skip this novella on your way to Unravel Me - it's a must read!

Review: Forsaken
Forsaken by Bec Botefuhr
My rating: 3 of 5 stars
I was super excited about reading FORSAKEN to get the skinny on super hot relationship dynamics between Maya, Ryder and Nate and it started off with a bang!
I was very pleased with how the dynamics between the trio morphed, but I won’t say how ;-) Relax, no ménage, but just as fulfilling!
I couldn’t help but feel that the second half of the book was like a race to the finish – with too much happening and all the conflicts resolving at warp speed… It really diminished my initial feelings about the story as a whole. The timeline was difficult to follow towards the end as it was progressing at a much faster pace than the beginning of the book – not sure if there was a max word count or just a rush to meet a deadline, but the rating will unfortunately suffer with the ending as it is. With a little expansion, I would easily give this book a 4 or maybe even a 5 star rating, but as it stands, it’s a solid 3.
I also felt that there were a few plot holes that bothered me. The main hole I just couldn’t get past was:
Although I like the author’s writing style, the two works I have read are in dire need of an editor or at the very least some experienced beta readers to help with missing/wrong words, grammar and punctuation. Again, the second half seemed to suffer more that the first half. For instance if you are using “my mother” in a sentence, mother should not be capitalized unless it is replacing the mother’s name – maybe that rule is different with British English? That just about drove me nuts! Also the constant mix up of words like: doing/going, to/too/two… the list goes on.
I loved the story and characters enough to give this one another read if it is ever expanded. Author Bec Botefuhr definitely has a gift when it comes to creating sexy and desirable characters and I will definitely read more of her work!

Review: My Body-His (Marcello)
My Body-His (Marcello) by Blakely Bennett
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Get ready to experience a rollercoaster of emotions as you read MY BODY-HIS (MARCELLO), it was a sexy, thrilling, nerve-racking and a sometimes exasperating experience, but well worth the emotional turmoil.
Don’t even think about reading this second book in the MY BODY TRILOGY until you have read the first book, MY BODY-HIS – although both books are complete and don’t leave you with any major cliffhangers, you will be totally lost without the knowledge of how Jan and Luke’s relationship came to fruition.
For readers who found the elements of book 1 as bordering on abuse since the heroine seemed to be constantly forced into outrageous situations that she did not care to partake in nor did she enjoy, but participated in simply to please her Dom - well, you may be on to something there. MY BODY-HIS (MARCELLO) has a decidedly different tone. The main character, Jane, comes out of her shell (somewhat) by taking a stand when she has a strong aversion to a request and putting her foot down when activities in which she does not want to engage are forced upon her. But let’s be real here… This is a D/s relationship to the extreme, bordering on a Total Power Exchange and that does not change overnight – in the beginning of the book, I thought Luke had miraculously turned into a sane Dom and that just would not have been realistic. Never fear, realism was preserved; warm and loving Luke only lasted for a hot second.
On the eve of their wedding, Jane is introduced to monumentally egotistical Marcello, Luke’s best friend. Marcello makes no qualms about the fact that he intends to possess Jane in all aspects of the word and confidently expresses that he always gets what he wants. Yes, well, it appears that his confidence was not unfounded. At first, Marcello brought a seriously menacing vibe to the scene and I just didn’t know how I would be able to endure the misery he was sure to inflict on poor Jane, but as his character developed, I was intensely attracted to his brand of dominance. Now, back to Luke, in the first installment, I couldn’t figure out if I loved or hated Luke, but as the story progressed in this second novel, Luke’s behavior solidified my extreme dislike for his character.
Jane, Jane, Jane… Oh! How could I possibly count the number of times I just wanted to shake her and slap some sense into that brain of hers? By the end, it appears that she gained some strength and self-worth from the nightmare that is her life. I am confident that there is light at the end of the tunnel for Jane - author Blakely Bennett stated that “[Jane] comes into her own in My Body-Mine.” (View Comment Here) So, there IS hope that Jane will once again feel whole and not be just the shell of a person she has become..
MY BODY-HIS (MARCELLO) is an excellent example of dark erotica at it’s best. If the dark-side calls to you and an emotional BDSM read is what you are craving, then this trilogy will likely be just what the doctor ordered!

Resurrection Review: Under Mr. Nolan's Bed
Under Mr. Nolan's Bed by Selena Kitt
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Ok, i feel like I need to go to church...I basically stayed up all night reading Under Mr. Nolan's Bed...WOW! Selena Kitt is the Queen of Smut...seriously.
Besides the ick factor of the incest, this book was dirty and hot and wrong on so many levels, but it was a 4.5 star trash read for me. This book is one of those "dirty little secrets". You know you have one...this one, for instance, has been sitting on my "to read" shelf forever. It is definitely one of those you don't want anyone to know you have read--and that you liked it. You thank the Lord that Kindle was invented so no one can see the title and ask what it is about. Yes, it is definitely a guilty pleasure.
It was chocked full of dirty hot sex, but there was actually a story there too *GASP*. I was totally shocked by the ending--didn't see that one coming at all! Good stuff! Honestly, I put off reading it so long because of the taboo topic, but it really was a great read...total smut, but do you really expect anything less from Selena Kitt?
______________________________________________________________________

Review: Infinity
Infinity by Sedona Venez
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
INFINITY is the perfect name for this heroine – plagued by the unknown her entire life and will likely be plagued by what might have been and by the haunting dreams that are destined to become reality for the rest of her life.
Author Sedona Venez has concocted a mysterious and unique world in this first book of the VALKYRIES: SOARING RAVEN series.
Infinity is a young megastar singer fighting the stigma, thanks in large part to the media, as being a wild child, drug-addicted, party animal, but is that really what she is all about? Not so much. She is a fierce businesswoman who is destined for greatness – though she is not exactly sure of her role in the world, she is determined to right the wrongs of a very secretive group called Collective Corporation and to say they are not her biggest fans is a vast understatement.
I really enjoyed the characters in this book! The sheer volume of brooding, testosterone-laden, hunky males is enough to make any girl cream her panties ;-) and most of them seem to want a little piece of Miss Infinity – yum! I can’t wait to see which one she chooses. Eeny Meeny Miny Moe choose a vampire, a tiger or a were named Bo! Ok, well the were’s name is Boulder (work with me here – Boulder just didn’t sound as good in my little rhyme) or as she has so fondly nicknamed him, “Big Red” and he is Hot-Hot-Hot!
INFINITY left us with so many questions that I just don’t know what I want to know first! All I have to say about this is that I really need to get my hot little hands on book 2 PRONTO! There’s a whole lotta ‘splain’ Ms. Venez needs to do!
Great read if you dig vampires, tigers and wolf shifters and if you enjoy a unique spin on the paranormal genre stories.

Review: Red
Red by Kate Kinsey
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Should it matter to an employer what a person does in their private time? In my opinion, NO, it shouldn’t matter, but sadly, it often does. RED is a spine-tingling, BDSM thriller that will leave you panting for more… More of the story, more answers and more of the dangerously hot sex!
As the only female detective on the force, Gina Larsen has to watch her step. Gina has dark desires that she struggles to suppress and the last thing she needs is the townspeople or men in the department catching wind of her kinky and erotic tastes.
There is one man in the department who knows and has kept her secret, Detective Tom Hanson, he is well aware of her “freak in the sheets” dark-side. Although it has been years since he has tasted her specific brand of loving, the erotic sexual encounters will be forever imprinted on his soul, but that ship has long since sailed for Gina and Tom.
When Gina’s private liaisons are revealed to the public, she is forced to leave her position as a police officer. When a crazed killer begins murdering members of an underground sex club, she just might hold the key in the knowledge she possesses. Detective turned professional Dominatrix, Gina has insight into the enigmatic world of the BDSM culture that the department needs. Who better to coax her into helping the department that turned their back on her than the very sexy and closet kinky, Detective Tom Hanson?
RED is darkly erotic. Author Kate Kinsey brings this naughty psychological thriller to life weaving a seductive web that is sure to trap you from the very first page.
