Spotlight Review Tour: Take Me For Granted by @AuthorKALinde

Take Me For Granted by K.A. Linde

Description:

Grant
Manwhore. Adrenaline junkie. Lead singer of ContraBand. What you see is what you get. I make no apologies for my actions, and by now no one expects any from me. I live my life the way I want and as long as it pushes the demons back, then I'm solid. I've never needed a chick for more than a good lay. Why would I need just one when I can have a different one every night?

Until she walks into my world.

Aribel
Mouthy. Perfectionist. Princeton student. Chemistry major. Yes, that pretty much describes me. Oh, and virgin. But I'm only nineteen, and have more important things to concern myself with. What really matters is finishing my degree and getting a good job. I’ve worked hard for what I want, and do what’s expected of me. I don’t need anyone to get in my way.

Until he opens up my world.

But if I give you my world, whatever you do…don’t TAKE ME for granted.

Review:

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

A Rockstar and an Ivy Leaguer – match made in heaven or total mismatch? While TAKE ME FOR GRANTED had it’s fair share of over-the-top moments, it also had a sizzling romance with an exciting story to back it up. It also doesn’t hurt that it’s a rockstar romance – which I adore!

Grant has spent years earning his reputation as a ladies man, manwhore, and rock god. Girls are constantly throwing themselves at him and that’s despite his reputation for being a bit harsh when it comes time for the girl to get going. So when he meets Aribel at one of his shows and she not only blows him off but goes out of her way to escape him—he’s intrigued. Intrigue quickly turns to stalking and Grant is suddenly on a path he’s never been on before. He’s determined to have the only girl who’s ever rejected him.

Aribel is 100% dedicated to her studies and the career path her parents laid out for her since childhood. Everything in her life fits into a meticulous plan and then Grant comes along and changes everything. Ari is snarky, blunt, and says what she thinks with no filter or regard for people’s feelings. She fights her attraction to Grant as long as she can, but eventually she’s overpowered by his persistence and charm. But just because Grant and Ari decide to change their ways to pursue a relationship doesn’t mean any of the temptations or obstacles of a rising star’s life goes away. A rock star’s life is not synonymous with monogamy and Grant and Ari have to face it all.

I did have a few issues with some of the more embellished moments:

Grant’s bandmate, Vin, did something atrocious at the beginning and it wasn’t given the serious reaction it deserved. Not by Grant, not by Ari, and certainly not by Ari’s roommate Chyenne who still wanted to sleep with him after hearing about it. I won’t say what happened – but in what world is this not a big deal???

When Grant and Ari get in a fight, WHY is Ari incapable of picking up the phone? So many misunderstandings could have been easily resolved if she just used her phone!

Grant’s apology seemed way more sincere than Ari’s. He took responsibility for everything and felt so bad about the terrible things he said when 1) His mean comments were only a rebuttal for hers; she started it! And 2) The things she said were worse! She was hitting below the belt! He was only biting back in response to the awful things she said. Yet he was so apologetic and she acted like, yah, I shouldn’t have been mean either.

Lastly, when Ari and Grant were hashing things out, she said Grant took her for granted after he’d already apologized for a thousand things and I really didn’t know what she was talking about. Which wouldn’t have been a big deal if that weren’t the title of the book, but because it was I thought it should have been more obvious when or how he supposedly took her for granted.

Despite my complaints, TAKE ME FOR GRANTED is a book you won’t want to put down. I gave it 3.5 stars and rounded up for reviewing purposes because it was such a fun read. It’s quick-paced and titillating from the first page to the last. I loved Aribel’s confidence and strong voice and Grant’s determination in pursuing her. I even liked what a dick he was to all the girls before her.

As a whole, TAKE ME FOR GRANTED is a fun, sexy rockstar romance with all the drama that comes with dating a rising star.
