Blog Tour Review & Giveaway: Embrace by S.E. Hall

Embrace by S.E. Hall

Synopsis:

Evan Allen is a handsome, athletic, southern gentleman who now attends Georgia Southern University for no good reason.

After what he expected to be the romantic gesture of the century, Evan is looking at no friends, a year of ineligibility on the football team, and no girl.

He's starting over alone and doesn't know quite how to proceed.
Certain members of The Crew refuse to let him face things by himself, taking him under their wing, and it doesn't take the ladies long to notice him, either.

Sometimes life doesn't go as you had planned. Sometimes it goes better.

Embrace it.

Embrace, the second book in the Evolve Series by S.E. Hall, follows the characters from her debut New Adult romance, Emerge.

Review:

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Laney and preppea (yes, I’m talking in third person) may not have chosen Evan Allen—but that doesn’t mean this gorgeous, football-playing southern gentleman has any problem finding girls who ARE interested!  Now it’s up to Evan to weed through the trolls to find the girl of his dreams.  And boy is it a hilarious journey watching him try his hand at dating!

Evan is now at Southern, red-shirted for a year, no scholarship, and no girl.  If I didn’t experience Laney’s tough choice for myself, I would have hated her for putting him in this position.  Unfortunately, I know how impossible to refuse Dane was, so I have to just wish Evan the best because really, what choice did she have?  So now Evan is trying to bounce back.  Let the speed dating begin.

Being the respectful southern gentleman that he is, Evan is way too nice to chance rebounding with sweet Whitley who quickly becomes his go-to friend.  Instead he lets his newfound Crew pick out his blind dates and OUCH—I don’t think anyone could have gone through that freak patrol and come out unscathed!  He really meets some winners.  Not.

EMBRACE had me laughing out loud; between the guys jabs at Evan and even his own inner commentary about his sickly sweet gentlemanly ways, I just couldn’t get enough of their awesome dialogue.

If the debutante thinks I need to relax, I must be acting like a phenomenal pussy, and we certainly can’t have that.

We need to run to the store for some feminine products there, puss?”

Every guy has one—this is my special way of peeing on her leg.

Unfortunately for me, I definitely seem to prefer the cavemen over the gentlemen in my books.  In EMERGE, I fell head over heels for Dane; but in EMBRACE, Evan was just a little too sweet for my tastes—and some of his affectionate nicknames for Whitley made me cringe.  But, what I loved about EMBRACE was that in a really subtle way S.E. Hall transitioned from character to character so that we read from multiple perspectives and I was still able to experience all the people I'd fallen in love with in the first book.  And when Evan was just being a guy, he was really fun to hang out with, as was Whitley.  What’s more, I have a feeling Sawyer’s personality is really going to mesh well with my tastes in book #3 and I cannot wait to see what Ms. Hall has in store for him!  Come on, Sawyer's story!
