#REVIEW: Unmasking Charlotte 4 STARS @Author_ALarge @MeganHershenson

Unmasking Charlotte (A Taboo Love, #2)Unmasking Charlotte by M.D. Saperstein & Andria Large
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

They say that once you go black, you never go back. I am not completely sure who "they" are, but they obviously never met me. I guess that maybe I am an exception to the rule. I went black, and then I went back.
Yep, you guessed it! Interracial love is what authors Saperstein and Large are tackling in this second book in the A TABOO LOVE series.  I don't really know how taboo that is anymore, but it's the theme and it is "taboo" to someone, so just roll with it... If you want to check this book out, it’s not necessary to read the first book, because they definitely stand alone, but I would recommend reading HEY THERE, DELILAH first so you can get to know the characters a bit more.

UNMASKING CHARLOTTE brings the same great humor and sexy romance that was laced throughout Delilah’s book, but there are also some heavy-hitting issues in this book – no, I am not going to spoil it for you, so you will just have to read it to find out!

Charlotte is a firecracker and she is determined to have things her way and on her terms. She is extremely guarded and has a few issues to work out. She wants someone to share her life with, but that definitely does not involve a black man – before you get all crazy, RELAX – she’s not racist, she has her reasons… That’s where Calvin comes in – he IS black and he’s more than willing to help her work out anything she wants, as long as they are both naked and all their naughty parts are touching… A LOT!

Calvin is a nice guy and he has his eye on Charlotte, but don’t try to pigeonhole him into any one-size-fits-all stereotypes.
First, let’s get all of the jokes and stereotypes out of the way. No, I am not a Cosby kid. Yes, I speak proper English, and no, that doesn’t make me a wanna-be white boy. No, I wasn’t born with a silver spoon in my mouth, nor am I a trust fund baby. And yes, I am the “black” sheep of the family. Pun intended. I can kick it with my homies or do tea with the Queen, and would be comfortable in both scenes. I don’t do drugs, drink excessively, or eat fried chicken and collard greens for dinner every night. Although, there is nothing wrong with that, it is delicious. I consider myself to be laid back and care free until I am not. It takes a lot to get me there, but once I am there, shit you not, back the fuck away. Oh, and I curse… a lot…unless I am in the company of children or a female who is offended by it. I take my cues from her. I don’t do drama. Period. So keep that juvenile shit away from me. One other big thing you should know about me? I NEVER, ever, pull the race card.
Calvin is a keeper! It also helps that he is described by the author’s looking like Shemar Moore – OH EM GEE! That man is so smokin’ hot, I would drop my panties for him any day of the week and twice on Sundays. What? You don’t know who Shemar is? Well, then, LET ME EDUCATE YOU!

See, delicious huh? You are welcome! I know, I am getting waaaaay off track ☺

Calvin knows Charlotte is interested in “picking up what he is putting down,” but something is holding her back and he has no intentions of walking away without fighting for her affections. THANK GOD! Because when they finally get together, it is better than the grand finale at a fireworks display on the 4th of July!
I am anything but soft. When I have that right woman beneath me, she will always feel cherished and safe, but she will also know that I am the man, and that I am in control. With everything. When I have that right woman, laid-back, cool-as-a-cucumber Calvin no longer exists; alpha Calvin rears his control hungry, over protective, you are mine, head.
UNMASKING CHARLOTTE is a super sexy and sometimes funny read with lots of characters you really want to know more about. I quite enjoyed both books in this series and I can’t wait to read Parker’s story – it sounds like it’s going to be a totally different animal all together and I am looking forward to it… I LOVE ANIMALS!
