Slade by Victoria Ashley
Description:
My name is Slade Merrick and I’m a fucking sex addict . . .
I’ve been told it’s a problem. But I see it as a passion; something that I’m good at. And who the fuck stops something that they’re good at?
They want me to seek help; get my cock in check. Don't judge my lifestyle. You’re no better than me. Just admit it, you like to fuck too. Sex is what I do best; my own personal high, so I embrace it instead of being ashamed.
When I'm not fucking, I'm slinging drinks at Walk Of Shame or stripping my way into your bed; another thing I'm good at. Every woman’s darkest fantasy brought to life.
So, am I stopping? Fuck no. Sex is beautiful, raw and erotic and I get off knowing I can have it with anyone I want . . . with the exception of her.
Aspen.
She walks into the club swaying those hips, instantly drawing my cock to attention. She’s pure perfection. That is, until she opens that mouth, drawing me in and for the first time in forever I want something more than sex. I want her and she hates it.
Things get dirty. Dirty is what I like; it’s how I live. But . . . she’s playing a game she can never win.
Review:
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Some like it dirty, some like it rough—Slade likes it all the time, anywhere, anyway.
Welcome to the Walk of Shame – where gorgeous men are there for your viewing and fucking pleasure. Slade loves sex, but he likes being numb even more. He strips, drinks, and fucks to keep his pain at bay. He’s good at it, too. He’s got a reputation for being a giver in the sack, but you better make the most of your opportunity with him because you only get one! There are no repeat lays for Slade.
When Aspen walks into his club, Slade is instantly drawn to her. When he finds out she’ll be his temporary roommate, he’s beyond thrilled. He knows she wants him and he can’t wait to show her exactly how much. Aspen may not be able to deny her attraction to Slade, but she’s determined to hide it behind a wall of hate and repulsion. But how long can anyone deny a walking, talking, sex machine.
SLADE is a stand-alone novella and part of a series about the male strippers at Walk of Shame. Longer than a traditional novella, SLADE didn’t feel rushed or broken in its attempt to keep things short. I was glad that it didn’t rush Slade and Aspen getting to know each other or their attempts to stay away from each other. I will say a full-length novel would have allowed more time to explore Slade’s past, the emotions behind his choices, and especially Aspen’s glossed over relationship with her ex. I think the story would only have benefitted from the extra depth. I also thought that though Slade liked to talk dirty and was obviously the king of sexy stripping, I didn’t quite feel the sexual tension the way I would have liked. Slade is a bit of a softy once you get to know him and I’m not sure I found the transition from cold sex machine to romantic knight in shining armor completely believable.
All in all, SLADE was a fun, easy ride and a deliciously perfect topic for a series! I suggest Walk of Shame be franchised and brought to every major city, starting with mine!

She lives for a good romance book with tattooed bad boys that are just highly misunderstood and is not afraid to be caught crying during a good read. When she’s not reading or writing about bad boys, you can find her watching her favorites shows such as Sons Of Anarchy, Dexter and True Blood.
She is the author of Wake Up Call and This Regret and is currently working on more releases for 2014.
