My love affair with Jeremy is officially over. In UNCOVERING YOU 4: RETRIBUTION, he showed just how cold and depraved he can be and I don’t see how someone can come back from that.
Jeremy has successfully isolated Lilly to the point that her every thought revolves around him. His Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde personalities are at a peak and she finds herself losing focus on her goal to seek revenge. But just as she becomes complacent in her new life, Jeremy’s darker side once again takes the reigns and reminds her once and for all that he is not her friend—he is most definitely the enemy.
In UY3, I even found myself lulled into a false sense of security with Jeremy. But in UY4, I never had to worry about making that mistake. Even Jeremy’s nicer side is dark and self-seeking. I am at a complete loss as to what his plan is or why he does the things he does. While Lilly quickly discredits any chance of a bipolar disorder because of Jeremy’s complete control over himself throughout either personality, I couldn’t come up with a better reason he seems to want her in his life as much as he wants to break her.
I am rooting for Lilly to find a way to ruin Jeremy before he does the same to her and finding solace in the prologue I vaguely remember from UY1. Scarlett Edwards has once again written a flawless story of darkness and cruelty, despair and survival.
