Grief
stricken Katie Dillinger is on a mission to claim revenge for the death of her
lover. In a race against time to find the murderer, Katie reaches out to Riker,
a man listed as her boyfriend’s emergency contact. The cold-hearted man comes
to Katie’s aid, but she doesn’t completely trust him. To keep her friends safe,
she insists they leave town immediately. But her efforts come too late. A
friend disappears and a clear message is left in the wake: surrender or more
people will die.
Katie’s world
is turned upside down when she discovers Riker has vowed to protect her. She’s
involved in a prophecy, one which her lover had been preparing her for before
his murder. All the combat training he gave her suddenly makes sense, and as
Katie fights to keep her friends alive, she’s forced to prioritize. Revenge
now, saving mankind next.

My Rating: 4 of 5 stars
IMMORTAL REVENGE starts with what is
undoubtedly Katie Dillinger’s worst day ever. Finding the body of your
boyfriend of nine years burning in your front yard would bring anyone to their
knees and wreck most people. Kyle has taught her how to survive and
protect herself, knowing that one day this could happen and that he
wouldn’t be there to protect her himself. Although Katie is
heartbroken, she doesn’t give up. Katie is a “don’t get mad, get even”
kinda girl. OK she’s mad too but the getting even part is
what makes the story. She vows to avenge Kyle’s brutal death.
Immortal Revenge is the first in a series about a girl, revenge, trust, a
prophecy, and the fate of the world. Can mankind and vampires live peaceably side-by-side?
Who can you trust? Who will stand by your side when your world crumbles around
you when many don’t even realize it is crumbling? Who will help you build
that world back up?
If you like a heroine who can kick ass and take names, Katie is your girl. The story is well developed. The book also has great male and female supporting characters. I did have a few issues with the book but they were insignificant. There were a few minor editing issues: using wrong words - then instead of than, vein instead of vain, belated instead of departed. The story did seem a bit rushed through any grieving for the deceased in the book. Some reactions of the characters to loved ones dying didn’t ring true to me.
I would recommend this story to readers who enjoy lots of action and a kick ass heroine; IMMORTAL REVENGE has it in spades. This is a start to a promising urban fantasy series. I enjoyed it enough to go look for another by this author. I believe fans of the Kate Daniels and Mercedes Thompson Novels would enjoy this one. The content is PG, so I would say it’s good for most ages. 3.5 stars round up to 4.
