Review: Reaper's Property

Reaper's Property
Reaper's Property by Joanna Wylde

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

“They’re bikers. I think they might be dangerous. They look like murderers to me, but I’d like to think I’m crazy on this one. Tell me I’m being paranoid, please.”

That’s Marie’s first impression of the very dominant, very alpha, very bad-assed man and motorcycle club member called “Horse”. Want to know how he got the nickname? Care to venture a guess? Either way, read the book to find out for sure, it will be well worth your time, I promise!

“I’m in charge here, don’t forget it.”

Uh, yes, this is exactly why this man called “Horse” works really well on paper, but would wear permanent claw marks in real life if he lived under my roof – but I think that might turn him on, so I might need to rethink my plan of attack against this over-the-top-dominant-man if he ever makes plans to move in with me – hmm… not sure what to do with my current husband, since Horse isn’t much for sharing and neither is the current (not so dominant or I would kill him) love of my life…

“You’re cute when you’re pissed. Kind of like a wet kitten. Gets me hard.”

See? Case in point. Yeah, well, he hasn’t seen my claws yet.

For me, “Horse” is a purely fictional, good on paper, fantasy lover. Motorcycle bad-boys, uber-dominant men who are protective to the core and believe when they say, “Jump,” the women in their life should say, “How high?” If this turns you on, then this is one book, you have got to read – I promised it will fulfill all your bad-boy fantasies.

Review: Risking It All

Risking It All
Risking It All by Jennifer Schmidt

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

What if everything you ever needed was staring you in the face all along?

When Kennedy Monroe began life as a college student, she knew her sole focus would be school…not the darkly handsome, bad-boy-ladies-man, Memphis Adams. In fact, her whole goal was to steer clear of this self-proclaimed Casanova – that was before she caught a rare glimpse into the real Memphis Adams, not the campus man-whore he portrays himself to be. Kennedy Monroe is still safe though, because Memphis tells her he never wants to sleep with her, he just wants to be her friend and although those words sting Kennedy’s ego a bit, she accepts what he is offering.

Twelve long years later, Memphis and Kennedy are still as thick as thieves – the best of friends. Their relationship has remained strictly platonic. Memphis is still running from commitment and Kennedy is in love with a successful doctor. They are just about as happy as they can be with their lives – both successful artists, happy with their love lives and they still have each other… but I said they were just about as happy as they can be… They have the blinders on when it comes to one little thing and that one little thing can actually make them happier. Happier? Who knew that was possible?

I instantly fell in love with the characters in RISKING IT ALL. They are the kind of characters you can see yourself being friends with in real life – really good friends that you only hope to cross paths with at some point.

RISKING IT ALL is one of those books that you never want to end. If a sweet romance is what you are craving, then this might just do the trick, but that’s not all you are going to get. You are going to get some killer chemistry, some hot, bang-you-up-against-the-wall kind of sex and some lovely characters with angst to spare - who are clearly so right for each other you will want to smack them for stringing you along and making you wait for the light bulb to finally turn on!

This one is definitely worth putting housework, dinner and everything else on hold for ☺ Enjoy!

Review: Rebecca’s Lost Journals, Volume 4: My Master

Rebecca’s Lost Journals, Volume 4: My Master
Rebecca’s Lost Journals, Volume 4: My Master by Lisa Renee Jones

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

In Rebecca’s 4th and final journal novella before the highly anticipated, BEING ME, we finally get to see Rebecca demanding a little control in her relationship with her masters.

Although these were entertaining, I am ready to get on to the main event, BEING ME and that is exactly what I plan to do at this very moment.

Review: Rebecca’s Lost Journals, Volume 3: His Submissive

Rebecca’s Lost Journals, Volume 3: His Submissive
Rebecca’s Lost Journals, Volume 3: His Submissive by Lisa Renee Jones

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Safewords, bondage and voyeurism combined with Masters, subs and mystery makes for a very interesting read. Don’t sell yourself short though… Rebecca’s Lost Journals are supplemental to the INSIDE OUT trilogy designed to tide you over between books 1 & 2 (IF I WERE YOU and BEING ME).

I am finding that the journals provide a little insight to what is going on in Rebecca’s mind as she tumbles down the rabbit hole and further into the world of BDSM. In this series of entries, we see a little more of a second master and a glimpse into her first experience in a BDSM club.

Time is a-wastin’ and I must keep it movin’, so on to the next series of journal entries!

Review: Rebecca’s Lost Journals, Volume 2: The Contract

Rebecca’s Lost Journals, Volume 2: The Contract
Rebecca’s Lost Journals, Volume 2: The Contract by Lisa Renee Jones

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

☰☰▶IF I WERE YOU ◀☰☰ Have you read it? If you haven’t, then do yourself a favor and hop on over to your favorite retailer and snatch it up. Without reading the first book in the INSIDE OUT trilogy, you will likely not catch the significance of the journal entries, but will probably still be able to enjoy them as “scenes”.

This 2nd e-serial of Rebecca’s journal follows Rebecca as she continues her journey into the unknown world of Domination and submission. Mystery master is still a mystery...

I’m eager to get to BEING ME, so I am moving right along the lost journal #3…

Review: Rebecca’s Lost Journals, Volume 1: The Seduction

Rebecca’s Lost Journals, Volume 1: The Seduction
Rebecca’s Lost Journals, Volume 1: The Seduction by Lisa Renee Jones

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Have you read first book in the INSIDE OUT trilogy, IF I WERE YOU? If so, then the short series of journals might provide just enough to get you through your withdrawals while you wait for the second book in the trilogy, BEING YOU to debut. If you haven’t read IF I WERE YOU, then do yourself a favor and read it before you read Rebecca’s lost journals – it will definitely enhance your reading experience while reading the journal novellas.

So, what was in Rebecca’s journal anyway? That’s the burning question… In the first journal installment, we get a closer look into Rebecca’s mind as she is sucked into the web of her still unrevealed seducer.

This entire series has totally captivated me and I am eager to get thru all the lost journals so I can dig into BEING ME… Yes, I have it! Don’t be jealous ;-)

Review: Pushing the Limits

Pushing the Limits (Pushing the Limits, #1)Pushing the Limits by Katie McGarry
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

PUSHING THE LIMITS will take you on a roller coaster of emotions and have you crying, smiling, and feeling like you've fought your own personal demons by the end of the book.

Echo and Noah seem like opposites, but both have had terrible obstacles thrown at them and both are fighting against life's tide to get above water. When they are thrown together by their "strongly encouraged" school therapist, they find a kindred spirit in each other they haven't experienced elsewhere.

This story was so powerful in everything from the terrifying experiences Echo and Noah have had to live through to the honest actions and mistakes the author allows teenagers and adults alike to make. Katie McGarry didn't exaggerate characters for dramatic purposes, instead she took very real reactions and let them carry their own weight. The story was emotionally charged, empowering, and uplifting from the first page to the last.

I found myself time and again thinking back to my own high school experiences and imagining what I would have done if placed in a similar situation, or how my friends or classmates would have reacted. In each scenario I really could imagine the results and consequences we find in Echo and Noah's story. By far, my favorite part of the book was when Echo's dad met Noah for the first time. His reaction when Noah didn't shy from Echo's scars was so beautiful. It really made me appreciate Echo's dad and realize that despite his many flaws, he truly loves Echo and has the best of intentions at heart. It also told me that Katie McGarry wouldn't villainize any character for the sake of the story, she wanted something truer and more real. I loved every second of the emotional journey that is PUSHING THE LIMITS.

Review: Walking Disaster

Walking Disaster (Beautiful, #2)Walking Disaster by Jamie McGuire
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Immerse yourself in the all-encompassing love affair that is Travis and Abby when you read Travis' point of view in WALKING DISASTER.

Jamie McGuire starts the story with Travis as a little boy and it gives so much depth to who he is as a person and why he's become the man he is today. And since Travis really is the one who falls dangerously, crazily in love right from the start - it is amazing to get inside his head and see how and why he feels the way he does.

I debated heavily over whether to re-read Beautiful Disaster again before reading Walking Disaster and I have to say, I'm kind of glad I didn't. It made certain parts more magical because though the story stands out strongly in my head, I didn't remember every detail and so hearing it from Travis point of view left some of the excitement and mystery for me as if I was hearing the story for the first time. Also, Jamie McGuire does such a fantastic job of developing the story from Travis' point of view that you really do get to experience it all over again. She spent just as much time fleshing out the secondary characters that were a big part of Travis' life and it really added to the story as a whole. I could definitely see myself enjoying spin-offs with each of the other Maddox brothers! Another really great part of WALKING DISASTER was that certain parts that Abby breezed through, Travis expanded and vice versa. And while I have no intention of revealing how the story ended, it was fantastic. Something new, cool, and completely unexpected - but that still leaves the same happy, giddy feeling about where Travis and Abby are at in their relationship.

This was 4.5 stars for me and an excellent addition for all those BEAUTIFUL DISASTER fanatics out there (myself included) who just can't get enough!

Review: Twice Tempted

Twice Tempted (Night Prince, #2)Twice Tempted by Jeaniene Frost
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I remember thinking every book Jeaniene Frost wrote in the Night Huntress series (and spin-offs) was magic - perfect and amazing. But I think its been so long since I've read the series and I've read so many paranormals in between, that I almost worried I'd be disenchanted. Until I started...

I don't know how Jeaniene Frost does it - how does she make an archaic dragon of a man look hot? And not just sort of hot, but dripping wet, steaming hot. Throughout the book people used words like sociopath, borderline psychotic, and a crazy cruel bastard to describe Vlad. Yet I was completely smitten! Even though I was mad in ONCE BURNED that Vlad wouldn't concede to loving Leila, I thought it made TWICE TEMPTED sooo much better because of it. Primarily because Leila did exactly what she was supposed to do and put her foot down and left. Take that, dragon! And because she did, we get to see Vlad fight for what he wanted - and oh boy, did he. Just his threats alone made me tingle - he was so scary and powerful and yummy.

Then there's the action and bad guys and those parts are just as well-written and exciting as the love and relationship aspects. TWICE TEMPTED is another out of the park home run and I'm once again biting my nails waiting for the next in the Night Huntress series.
"Vlad, I—"
"Don't. Speak."
Fire erupted from his hands, climbing up his arms to his shoulders before haloing his whole body with an orange glow. I would've thought he was trying to intimidate me, except from the maelstrom of his emotions, he couldn't stop it.
"I've tried to let you do what you feel you must because I respect your bravery, but you push me too far." Another flare of fire. "Attempt one more time to willfully endanger your life, and I swear I will imprison you."
Yes, please!

Review: Quality Candy

Quality Candy
Quality Candy by Ava Catori

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

QUALITY CANDY is just like a box of chocolates; just when you think you know exactly what you are going to get… SURPRISE! It’s totally not what you had expected!

Candace Brown has worked extremely hard to put her past behind her, but as straight laced as her life is now, that trailer park whore she used to still lurks in the shadows waiting to jump out and turn her world upside down. She has done a fantastic job at keeping that part of her life hidden, but that was before Ryan Gentry enters the picture. You see, Ryan know exactly the kind of girl “Candy” used to be and that scares the shit out of her, but he is determined to integrate himself into her reinvented life.

There were lots of things I loved about this story. I loved that it was totally not what I expected and I was pleasantly surprised. Candy is ultra-stubborn, driven and broken. Ryan is ultra-rich, equally as driven and eager to show Candy that he has exactly what she needs to become whole again. Ryan is a rare breed of male… I don’t know many in his situation who would put up with all the bullshit Candy puts him through… He is definitely a keeper. Through a series of trials and tribulations, Ryan and Candy find their way through the winding road of life – sometimes together and sometimes miles apart. I did find myself wanting to slap Candy for being a dumbass at times, but everyone is entitled to a few missteps and I found myself easily forgiving her for her stupidity once I realized she was really just trying to be true to herself and to Ryan.

QUALITY CANDY is a wonderful story about acceptance, forgiveness and learning to live in the skin God gave you. Go into this one expecting some sweet romance that’s heavy with emotion and some life lessons and you come out with a smile on your face!
