Review: Submissive Fairy Tales

Submissive Fairy Tales
Submissive Fairy Tales by Kitty Thomas

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

So, I have read these individually... well, 2 of the 3...

The King's Pleasure ☆☆☆☆☆

Wow! Another spectacular showing from Kitty Thomas - she truly is a master at weaving a wicked story that leaves you pondering the lives of her characters long after you have read the final page.

THE KINGS PLEASURE is a fantastically sexy and erotic tale of a young and beautiful gypsy thief named Abigail who is caught stealing - as punishment, she is forced to serve her time as the new King's slave. The young king is determined to rule his kingdom differently than the previous king, his father, in what could possibly be likened to a reign of terror.

King Niall hatches a plan that is sure to change the future of his country while making an example of the beautiful young thief. As the story is told, her position as the King's slave doesn't appear to be much of a hardship - in fact, as his first chosen slave, her position is a very prestigious position for any woman to be in, much less a poor gypsy girl. The first chosen slave is much like the position of Queens in other countries - making her the envy of all the formally trained women who have been groomed to satisfy the king in all his desires. As the first chosen, Abigail has a number of obstacles to face, but to compound matters even more, she is despised because of her gypsy heritage - then, throw in the fact that she must be schooled by the King in the ways of the flesh and her role as a slave and you have a delicious recipe for a racy read.

If you are a fan of Kitty Thomas, you will not be disappointed with this story. Leave it to Ms. Thomas to blur the lines of fantasy and reality in a sensational combination of BDSM elements and a solid story resulting in a great read!

The Auction ☆☆

I didn't think it was possible to find a Kitty Thomas book that I didn't like, but we have a winner...err a loser... Oh! I don't want to say it, but I did not like THE AUCTION at all. I thought Kitty could make me like aliens, but not even she could do it!

I am sorry my dear Kitty, as much as it pains me to say it, this was not one of my favorites.

Awakening - This one doesn't not seem like my cuppa, so I didn't read or review it.

Review: Hushed

Hushed
Hushed by Kelley York

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

HUSHED is perplexing from the very beginning. I was very intrigued about the perverse path author Kelly York was leading me down. Though I was a little frightened, I was anxious to discover the ultimate destination of her masterfully crafted, wicked characters.

Talk about a super dark read! Wow! I really struggled with how I felt about the characters – loved ‘em and hated ‘em. Archer is the really whacked avenging angel...when I think about him, the age-old saying flashes in my brain: Two wrongs do not make a right – but I am not sure that he really had anyone in his life to teach him that. Viv is the ultimate puppet-master as she uses her skills of manipulation to play all those who surround her – she is a character readers love to hate though I mostly just hated her. Then there is the true victim, Evan – poor guy, I could see from the moment he entered the picture that he scarcely stood a chance in the middle of Archer and Viv.

The twisted elements peppered throughout the entire novel successfully kept me on the edge of my seat.

I really enjoyed it, but it’s definitely not a book meant for everyone. HUSHED is mostly a psychological thriller - I wouldn’t classify this as having many (if any) romantic elements. Read this one on a nice and sunny day in order to counteract the dark mood HUSHED is sure to force you into.

Review: Restraint

Restraint
Restraint by Erica Chilson

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Fantastic! I can't stop now - on to the next book!

Ok, I finally got it together enough to review this little treasure.

RESTRAINT. I exhibited very little of this while blowing through this fantastic world of mystery and intrigue that is the life of Katya Waters – I couldn’t even be bothered to stop and review it!

Katya Waters has been through hell and back in her relatively short life. She is beyond shocked to discover that the better part of her adult life has been carefully orchestrated by a wickedly smart and determined puppet-master. The adventure of self-discovery that she embarks upon in the world of BDSM is exciting, mysterious, sexy and sensual. I was on the edge of my seat with anticipation as I submerged myself into her story. I loved it!

Eric Chilson successfully sucked me into the story from the very beginning. The characters are all charming; even the sadistic ones ;-). I can’t wait to see what she does with the secondary characters in this series, there is so much potential. Chilson really has a way with words – I have a feeling she has a big hit on her hands with this series.

If you are looking for something fun and sexy that’s also a little dark with a lot of little mysteries to uncover, then you should definitely check this out. Prepare yourself, because you will want to get straight to book 2, UNLEASHED. I just couldn’t get to it fast enough - I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!

Review: A Week At The Beach

A Week At The Beach
A Week At The Beach by Virginia Jewel

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Who doesn't love A WEEK AT THE BEACH? Especially if it is free - well, yes I am referring to the book - as I acquired it for free through Amazon, thanks to the very generous author AND I am also referring to a free week at the beach in the literal sense. That is exactly the kind of fringe benefits the heroine (Cami) of this fantastic romantic read gets for putting up with her high-maintenance, gold-digging, socialite of a friend, Chrissy.

Cami is a plain jane - in her own mind - who was raised from humble beginnings and surrounded by a loving and supportive family. "Miss Perfect" as she is lovingly called by her sisters throws caution to the wind on and opens her mind and her heart to something a little wild - YAY! Finally!

Great beach read...hell, it's a great couch read! I loved the characters - although Chrissy was a bit annoying at times, she was one of those characters you love to hate - loved the story and loved the wrap up. I definitely plan to check out other reads by this author!

Review: That Boy

That Boy by Jillian Dodd

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

THAT BOY really gets to you - I mean the book and well, that boy :-) Which boy? Well, both of them - I can't choose which one I want her to end up with...choices, choices...

***Maybe I should wait to write a review - when I am not feeling quite so giddy about it - the characters were just awesome and the story was told in such a way that you really get to know them like you are part of their lives! As many naughty books as I usually read, this was refreshingly sweet. I found myself half expecting the trio of BFFs to become lovers in a polyamorous relationship - but then I slapped myself back to reality and reminded myself that this is not one of those type of books ;-) Trust me when I say you won't even miss the lack of nookie - yes, it's that good!
